Mike Smith entered the insurance business in 1993 as a marketing and broker service representative at The Brokerage Inc. As President-Emeritus of The Brokerage, Mike has been instrumental in growing a leading National Marketing Organization focused on personalized service with high support in marketing and technology. With 32 years of industry experience, Mike has fostered strong relationships with agency partners, carrier leaders, and political figures. Mike has positioned The Brokerage as a strong influencer in the life, health, and Medicare insurance.

Throughout his career, Mike has been recognized by his peers with numerous, prestigious accolades:
• The Donna Carnall Career Achievement Award (Ft Worth AHU 2005)
• The Hollis Roberson Award (Texas AHU 2015)
• The NAIFA Dallas Advisor of the Year (2017)
• The NAIFA-Dallas O.C. Jackson Hall of Fame Award (2021)
• The National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies “ID 20 Award” (NAILBA 2020)
• And recently, the “Spirit of Independence Award” (NABIP) honoring the most courageous innovators, change-makers, trailblazers, visionaries, and leaders in the industry (Mar 2023)

Mike previously served as Chairman of the NABIP Medicare FMO Advisory Council; he currently serves on the NAIFA Medicare-Healthcare Collective.
